Hello Fabulous Fifth Grade Families,
It is hard to believe we are finishing up Quarter 2 standards and wrapping up the first half of fifth grade! Both classes took the MI last week and will be taking the RI this week. You will receive a growth report with your child’s report card. *Our schedule until break is different because of the musical practices, performances and half days. Please email or send me a message on dojo if you are planning to eat lunch with your child to make sure you have the correct lunch time! Weekly Reminders/Assessments/ graded work:
Science Fair: The Science Fair will be held January 11, 2020. Science Fair projects are to be dropped off the morning of January 11, 2020 between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Participation is required for all 5th grade students. Students may work in a group to submit a science fair project. The group can be no larger than three. Individual science fair projects are encouraged. Attached is the rubric that will be used for judging of individual projects as well as the criteria for the display. You may also visit the STEM blog at www.ksestem.weebly.com Rock Eagle: March 25 – 27, 2020. Your child brought home a packet of information regarding the Rock Eagle trip. This is an amazing opportunity and we are looking forward to sharing this educational opportunity together. You will receive more information closer to the trip. Payments should be paid in full by March 13, 2020. Xtramath.org: Please have your child practice a couple of times a week. This program will help with their multiplication and division fluency. Mobymax: All students have been assigned new lessons in Mobymax in Math, Science and ELA. Feel free to practice these at home! Science – Cells: The Building Blocks of Life Math - Decimals (all operations) ELA – Explanatory/ informational text writing Mentor Sentences: As we progress in the series the sentences get more complicated, as well as the subject matter. Reviewing the sentence a couple times throughout the week is the only way to ensure the new information is acquired. Parents are welcome to attend these as well; however, space is incredibly limited.
